How GPs can help

GPs can help a person with dementia and their carer by providing advice, information and medical support. "Do you take care of some one who has dementia? Your GP can help" has been published by The Royal Australian College of General Practitiioners in 2005.

Best Practice Guidelines for Dementia Carer Support Group Leaders

These guidelines are recommended by Alzheimer’s Australia NSW as best practice principles  for leaders of dementia specific support groups. While they  may be relevant for socially focused groups, they are primarily developed for groups that offer mutual aid – that is, groups that encourage members to share stories and information, offer empathic validation and support, and that may have an educational component to the structure of the session.
